The subject of polygamy has been hitting the headlines recently, due in part to the attention garnered by President Zuma's family life.

Presenting a woman's view on this subject is the new novel from Nigerian author Lola Shoneyin.

The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives is a tragicomic tale about the four wives of a Nigerian patriarch.

Lola explained to Harriett why she wanted to tell this story.
