The legendary city of Ife is regarded as the spiritual heartland of the Yoruba people. From the 12th to the 15th centuries it flourished in West Africa in what is now modern Nigeria.
It developed fine arts and culture, including highly refined and naturalistic sculptures.
For the first time, there is an international touring exhibition devoted to Ife art and Dr. Mayo Adediran, Director of Museums in Nigeria explains the significance of these objects.
