Avatar is this year's most eagerly awaited and most hyped movie.

Director James Cameron, whose last feature-film Titanic won eleven Oscars, has created a science-fiction spectacular on planet called Pandora.

It's a planet that may hold the key to Earth's energy crisis.

But forget the story. Critics around the world have declared that the 3D technology Cameron has used will change how we view cinema.

Signorney Weaver, who is in the film, has likening it to the advent of sound.

Is she correct? The Strand put on some 3D glasses and went to find out.
