The singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman tells The Strand's Harriett Gilbert about how as a politically disillusioned sixteen year old she sat down to write what turned out to be an anthem of the 1980s Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution.

These days, she's feeling comparatively light-hearted and playful and this mood has affected the songs in her new album Our Bright Future.

Tracy Chapman's album, Our Bright Future, was released this week on the Elektra label.

To coincide with the release of Our Bright Future Tracy will begin a solo tour of Europe in November, comprising four UK dates, including two at London's Hammersmith Apollo on December 15 and 16.
