Today was supposed to be the last day of former Liberian president, Charles Taylor's war crimes trial in the Hague.

However the trial has been put on hold indefinitely after judges allowed Mr Taylor's lawyer to appeal their decision not to accept a written summary of the defence case.

Mr Taylor is facing eleven charges - including murder, rape, and the conscription of child soldiers during the civil war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s.

He categorically denies them all.

BBC Focus on Africa's Hassan Arouni is in the Hague.
