It is now coming to light in the Democratic Republic of Congo, that what was originally thought to be a hit-and-run attack on a group of villages in the east, was in reality a systematic campaign of rape.

The attacks, affecting up to 200 people, happened over a period of four to six days and involved hundreds of fighters.

More and more victims have been coming forward to seek assistance from aid agencies.

Our reporter in DR Congo Thomas Hubert filed this report.
