In Kenya, at least six people have been confirmed dead after drinking an illicit brew in Nairobi's Kibera slum.

It is believed that the brew was laced with additives such as methanol.

Reports also say that others have been left blind after drinking the tainted alcohol.

Superstitious beliefs sometimes fuel this practice.

This is not the first time that Kenyans have fallen prey to these dangerous brews.

Ten years ago, hundreds of Kenyans died after consuming the illicit brew in some Nairobi's poor neighbourhoods.

Despite the dangers, punters seem determined to keep on drinking the concoctions.

From Nairobi Anne Mawathe reports.
