Somaliland's opposition candidate wins election

The self declared republic of Somaliland has a new president.

Ahmed Mahamoud Silanyo, leader of the Kulumiye Opposition Party, was declared the winner of last weekend's elections.

The self proclaimed state has yet to be recognised by most of the world, but the new president is upbeat about his prospects.

Mr. Silanyo spoke to the BBC's Bashkash Jugsoday in Hargeisa.
