South Africa's new crime fighters

South Africa has one of the highest crime rates - but a new elite crime fighting unit hopes to change that when it is launched today.

The Priority Crime Investigations Unit replaces the old Scorpion unit - disbanded after its corruption investigation of then ANC leader Jacob Zuma, who is now president.

To find out why this new unit was needed, Akwesi Sarpong spoke to the BBC's Mohammed Allie in Cape Town.
