Sitting in the Atlantic ocean, just off the west coast of Africa are the islands of the Cape Verde archipelago.
This island nation has produced many musical ambassadors and is home and a key creative influence to Mario Lucio a Cape Verdean working on his latest album "Creole".
It's an apt title for the music of this string of islands uninhabited until the Portuguese arrived in 1462, Cape Verde quickly became a melting pot of people as a result of the slave trade.
Our reporter Martin Vogl spoke to Mario Lucio about his life, his influences and the music that he creates.
