River twins

London schools are taking part in the Thames Festival with their twin schools around the world.  The schools have created art inspired by their river, or the river in the partner school's city.

The London Nautical School worked with artists Pete Gomes and Shona Watt.  They based their painting on Thames river boats.

Images of boats were rotated 60 degrees to create a mandala.

Six Kolkata schools took part in the project, all working with their twin schools in London.

Rivers of the World is the art and education project of The Mayor’s Thames Festival.

Delivered in partnership with the British Council's Connecting Classrooms, the project links schools and over 2,000 young people around the world through common river themes.   Support is provided by the HSBC Global Education Trust.

Search the Rivers of the World school partnership pages for each country to find out more about how the schools collaborated and to see the art they made together.

Join BBC World Class and our partners will help you twin.
