Students in Rotherham and Bermuda are linking up to research the Battle of the Atlantic.
Students from Wales High School in Rotherham have been learning about World War II from a new angle, thanks to their partnership with Saltus Grammar School in Bermuda.
The school has partnerships with schools in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Now the “Bermuda Club” have set up a new link via the Global Partnerships website.
Year 9 students have been exchanging letters, diaries and e-mails with their partners to learn about Bermuda. They are keeping Saltus Grammar School up to date with life in the UK by sending diaries and even recipes for British delicacies. For Bonfire Night, they treated Bermuda to the recipe for bonfire toffee!

World War II project
The two schools have been working on a joint project on the Battle of the Atlantic, to find out how the UK and Bermuda were affected. The Bermuda Club have been to the Battle of the Atlantic Exhibition in Liverpool and the Cabinet War Rooms in London to research the project.
Both schools are contributing letters and photographs. The information will eventually be made into a book for the students to share. The next project is on Bermuda itself. The students will be getting in touch with their twins to find out about the island's geography, architecture and wildlife.
How did they do that?
The schools got in touch through the British Council's Global Gateway which helps schools around the world find partners to twin with.
Because of their international twinning project, students from the Bermuda Club were invited to the Commonwealth Day Celebrations.
Join BBC World Class and our partners will help you to find a twin.
