Read the "Obamarama" from a Zeldenrust Steelantcollege student:

Alexandra, 14
What would you tell Barack Obama is special about your school?
Our school is a cheerful school. What strikes most people when they come in are the bright colours everywhere. The atmosphere in our school is open and friendly and we welcome a lot of students from abroad through our exchange projects. In the same way we’d welcome Mr. Obama if he ever decided to come to our school.
Who would you take him to meet in your school or community? Why?
Everyone should have the opportunity to meet Mr. Obama, black or white, old or young, rich or poor. For me, that’s what Mr. Obama stands for: he represents everybody and not just a lucky few.
What would you want him to change in your school or community? Why?
If Mr. Obama could change anything on a global scale then I would like him to take a close look at what he could do about the economic recession which is hitting the world so hard. Another issue which I feel is very important is our climate and climate change and the effects of pollution. Last but not least is world peace.
What would you give him to remember you by?
As a farewell gift I want to present him with 4 tickets for the 'Bonte Avond', our school’s variety show in the local theatre so he can have a thoroughly enjoyable evening out with his family and see how creative and artistic Dutch students can be!
How did they do that?
Zeldenrust Steelantcollege, in Terneuzen, Netherlands has a partnership with Prince Henry’s Grammar School, West Yorkshire.
Zeldenrust Steelantcollege and Prince Henry’s made contact through another of Prince Henry’s Spanish partner schools, Colegio Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas in Madrid.
Together, the two schools identified which curriculum areas might be interested in taking the link forward. Prince Henry’s did not want to over saturate those subjects (such as Geography and MFL) who already had many well established links, so the Science department took responsibility for the link and is now developing a new collaborative project.
