What is the Global Gateway?
The Global Gateway is a website open to all schools in the world - that's any school listed by any government education department.
It is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and helps to implement its International Strategy by recognising that adding an international dimension to a school can enthuse pupils and staff and enhance learning.
The Global Gateway service is completely free. You’ll get advice and ideas on how and where to partner up and then select yourself a partner school using the "Find A Partner" database… or find a partner school directly through suggestions or referrals from the team.
The team helps you to find (or start your own) great projects, advises on ICT for linking, and even when you have a partnership they can tell you where to go for extra useful support – including local authorities, linking organisations, funding and training.
How does it work?
The free online database helps you to find one or many partner schools in a country of interest, on a shared theme of interest or just one that takes your fancy. You can match by setting, school type, mixed/single sex, SEN provision, and languages taught. You can also keyword search the school messages to find special requirements.
Find out how it works.
Before you can contact a potential partner school you have to register your school. Registration is free. Your schools' details will then be available to all Global Gateway member schools and potential members worldwide.
What other support is there?
The Global Gateway website offers support on developing international school partnerships and activities and suggestions for school activities and projects. There is also advice on methods of communicating with partner schools around the world.

What practical support do you offer UK schools registered on the Global Gateway?
Schools are directed to other forms of support such as the British Council, the DCSF and other useful organisations both national and local. There is an advisory service on partnering and help with problems at any stage of partner finding.
What support do you offer to international schools registered on the Global Gateway?
The Global Gateway is funded by the DCSF but is run from inside the British Council, so British Council country offices in some countries are available to offer support to partnered schools.
Do you charge for your services?
All programmes are free. The Global Gateway also directs schools to funding opportunities for projects and partnerships.
