Why does Afri-Twin twin?

Afri Twin twins UK schools in a triangle basis - with well resourced South African schools as well as a developing (township) school. The purpose is to share learning about each school and each country, supporting Citizenship aims.

What kind of schools do you twin with?

Across all ages from Primary, Middle to Secondary.
UK and South Africa schools are matched in ages as close as possible.

What region of the UK do you twin?

North West England (Stoke through to The Lakes) and South West England (Plymouth/Devon area). There are over 60 UK schools already involved, major growth is intended in southern England.

What part of the world do you twin with?

South Africa, both rural and urban. Most of Afri Twin's urban schools in Durban and Capetown, with East London and Johannesburg more recently becoming involved.

What support do you offer to twinned Afri Twin schools in the UK?

*Starter sessions in school to raise awareness and on-going monitoring of progress.
*Referral to, and provision of CD resources.
*Regular networking for teachers to learn from other schools' experience.
*Guidance towards applying for British Council funding for teacher exchanges.

What support do you offer to twinned Afri Twin schools in South Africa ?

On-going email, and often telephonic advice, where email is not available. Networking with schools in South Africa to share ideas.

Do you charge for your services?

Afri Twin levies £250 per Primary and £350 per Secondary school per annum in the UK only. Afri Twin provides a personalised service with experience of life in South Africa as well as the UK.
