School Day 24
Generation Next is a season of programmes running December 2 - 10 on the BBC World Service. It is exploring the world through the eyes of the next generation - the under 18s. A key part of the season is School Day 24 which broadcast on Wednesday 6 December.
On this day schools around the world came together for 24 hours on air. Young voices were at the centre of a global conversation. BBC World Service programme teams brought schools together across conflict and political, cultural, and religious barriers. Can young people find common ground?
Some of the link-ups took place in English, many others in regional languages from Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu and Arabic to Spanish, French and Swahili.
Audiences around the world listened and participated in the conversations by sending in questions.
