Commonwealth Class: Special Event

Commonwealth Class collaborators, the BBC, British Council and Commonwealth Secretariat recently hosted a celebration at the Science Centre in Glasgow.

The event showcased work of some of the Schools involved in the project alongside announcements of the Commonwealth Class: School Stories competition winners.

A number of special guests attended the event, which also included some musical performances and film screenings.

Commonwealth Class: School Stories Announcement

Commonwealth Games Project Executive Sharon Mair spoke about the Commonwealth Class: School Stories competition and the winning schools:

"Last October, Commonwealth Class launched 'school stories' - the search for the best stories around the Commonwealth. Three schools - one in the UK and two from the Commonwealth got the chance to make a film with the help of the team, which best reflected the Commonwealth Values and what it meant to be a global citizen.

"Calderglen High School who we have here today - on the value of Education and their links with Mountview High School in South Africa.

"Dr Wilbert Keon School from Quebec in Canada - about the importance of their indigenous community film title 'Our Home and Native Land'

"Rajagiri Public School in Kerela, India on protecting the environment"
