Partnership
One
of the key elements behind the success of Tidworth's regeneration
programme is the idea of partnership, something that is recognised
by the Community Area Forum.
The
Forum elected Councillor Peter Colling as its Chairman, who brings
to the Forum his long experience of partnership working in the South
East Kennet Community Area.
Exciting
Parish
Councillor David Brown echoed the sentiments of the meeting when
he expressed his enthusiasm for the Forum.
He
signalled that it was an exciting chance for his parish and other
rural parishes to work with their neighbours Tidworth and Ludgershall.
All
agreed that the first job of the Forum was to encourage the rural
communities to take advantage of the greater opportunities to become
involved in decision making.

more to do: empty shops at Tidworth |
The
Forum was given a presentation by Colonel Godfrey Tilney of Tidworth,
Netheravon and Bulford Garrison.
He
spoke of his desire to work closely with the new Forum to ensure
that the army and the civilian community could continue its successful
partnership in Tidworth and its rural hinterland.
Regeneration
The
Forum was also invited to team up with the reformed Tidworth Community
Area Partnership Steering Group, a body, which in a previous incarnation,
made possible regeneration projects such as the popular Tidworth
Leisure Centre and the new Lidl Supermarket.
The
next meeting of the Forum will take place in September and will
be hosted by Collingbourne Ducis Parish Council.
Details
will be publicised nearer the time and everyone is being encouraged
to come along and take part.
It
was emphasised that only with public help and support can the Forum
push South East Kennet Community issues to the top of the agenda.
