who is nominated is awarded a certificate and the outstanding achievers
are invited to a gala dinner to receive their award plus £500
courtesy of the award sponsors.
In
2003 you told us about some truly exceptional individuals.
From
eight-year-old Westbury girl Michaela-Jay Dallison, who saved her
mother's life to 89 year old Liz Porter from Box for her outstanding
contribution to her local community.
You
can nominate someone you feel is deserving of an award in one of
six following categories:
NATIONWIDE
BUILDING SOCIETY YOUTH AWARD:
Open to young people up to the age of 18 years old. Awarded to a
young person who has made an outstanding contribution to their community
or made an exceptional personal achievement.

VIRGIN MOBILE GOOD NEIGHBOUR AWARD:
Award for good citizenship. This award will recognise an individual
who demonstrates good community spirit, outstanding service and/
or goodwill to others within their local community.

ORDERS
OF ST JOHN CARE TRUST CARER IN THE COMMUNITY AWARD: Open to
all ages for someone who has cared for others in a voluntary capacity.
£500 award. Sponsored by The Orders of St John Care Trust.
WILTSHIRE
TIMES ENVIRONMENT AWARD: This is open to local organisations,
businesses and individuals that have done something to help enhance/
preserve the Wiltshire environment. £500 award. Sponsored
by The Wiltshire Times
RINGWAY
PARKMAN EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR: This
award is for a local business that deserves recognition for the
contribution that it makes to their employees and/ or the local
community. This
award is open to any individual, partnership, company or organisation
carrying out business in Wiltshire, subject to specific exclusions
referred to in the rules and conditions. £500 worth of free
advertising with a Newsquest publication of your choice. Sponsored

PERSIMMON
HOMES SPORTING SUCCESS AWARD: Award for an individual, team
or organisation that is proud of its achievements and whose success
will help raise the profile of sport in Wiltshire.

The
2004 People of Wiltshire Awards evening will take place at the Civic
Hall in Trowbridge in June. The
awards are co-ordinated by Wiltshire County Council in partnership
with Newsquest Wiltshire, Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce,
Corporate Events, BBC Radio Wiltshire and BBC Radio Swindon, CSV
(Community Service Volunteers), Wiltshire Agenda 21, Avon, Gloucestershire
and Wiltshire Strategic Health Authority, Wiltshire Constabulary,
Wiltshire Fire Brigade, Wiltshire and Swindon Sports Partnership,
Community First, GWR FM, Wiltshire's four district councils and
Swindon Borough Council.
