Best-selling fantasy novelist Jasper Fforde's series of books - 'The Eyre Affair', 'Lost in a Good Book' and 'Well of Lost Souls' have sold over 250,000 copies worldwide.

Each follows the adventures of female literary detective Thursday Next who lives in a parallel dimension version of Swindon set in the mid-80s

The somewhat skewed reality in this universe means the local pet shop sells Dodos, a futuristic monorail weaves above the town centre and the County Ground is a croquet stadium!

Prior to becoming a novelist, Jasper previously worked as a film cameraman and his high-profile assignments included the 1995 James Bond movie Goldeneye and The Mark of Zorro.

His introduction to Swindon came In 1982 after working on the film Champions - the story of jockey Bob Champion. He stayed in the town whilst filming took place on nearby Lambourn Downs. He later spent the 90s living near Marlborough.

Jasper recently returned to Swindon for a guest appearance at The Swindon Festival of Literature.

He was a guest on Dan Chisholm's mid-morning show on BBC Radio Swindon on Wednesday 8th May where he talked about the novels and why he set them in the unassuming town.
