Now
perhaps better known for the state of his love life, it is often
overlooked that Les Dennis once enjoyed a highly successful career
on the stand-up circuit.
Recently
he returned to this medium after trying his hand as a game show
host, actor and reality TV contestant and his current UK tour stops
in at Swindon's Wyvern Theatre in May.
Often
acknowledged as one of Britain's most popular entertainers, Les
hosted perennial TV favourite - the game show Family Fortunes as
well as the ITV primetime entertainment show Give Your Mate A Break.
In
1997 he made his big screen debut in the film Intimate Relations
with Julie Walters and Rupert Graves and has made numerous acting
appearances on TV including stints in Crossroads, Brookside and
Casualty.
His
many theatre credits include; Me & My Girl, Don't Dress for Dinner,
Skylight, Mr Wonderful and he recently returned to the West End
stage for a season as Amos Heart in the award winning hit musical
Chicago at the Adelphi.
In
late 2002, Les added another string to his bow when he came third
in popular reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother 2 and helped raise
thousands of pounds for charity in the process.
His
current tour promises an evening of comedy as Les looks back on
a career celebrating 30 years. The tour drops into the Wyvern Theatre
in Swindon on Sunday May 4th.
