Fans
of Kenneth Williams will not want to miss David Benson's one-man
show Think No Evil of Us when it comes to Swindon's Wyvern Theatre
on Thursday 27th May.
The
show has been hailed by friends and colleagues of Kenneth's (including
Barbara Windsor and Dame Maggie Smith) as the most accurate portrayal
of Kenneth Williams ever seen.
Inspired
by The Kenneth Williams Diaries, Think No Evil of Us is Benson's
attempt to break the mould of the 'biographical' show. He says:
"I want to portray Williams as a character rather than as an historical
figure."
Benson
builds a portrait of a highly complex man: vulnerable, insecure
and capable of breathtaking cruelty. What fascinates him above all
is Williams' ability to "continually redeem himself by turning his
private torment into blistering comedy."
BBC
Wiltshire's Daniel Garrett recently spoke to David to find out where
his fascination with Williams began, what people can expect from
the show and to hear a sneak preview. Click the link below to listen
