Sky
music channel Scuzz TV's 'Demolition' contest for unsigned bands
received a huge response with almost 1000 bands sending in their
demos.
Trowbridge
hardcore merchants Sub:luminal who won BBC Wiltshire's Battle of
the Bands contest in 2002 were told by Scuzz last week that they
had made it to the finals with their latest EP release 'Pure'.
They
were being judged against just two other bands by Max Cavalera of
Sepultura/Soulfly fame for a place in the Grand Final live on Scuzz
TV against five other hopefuls.
The
winner of the final will play on stage at the 2004 Download festival
at Donington Park in June where the line-up includes Linkin Park,
Machine Head, Metallica, Slipknot along with many other metal bands.
As
they have reached the final, a track from the 'Pure' EP will be
included on the cover CD of Rocksound magazine, to be issued around
the time of the festival.
Manager
Dean Millard said: "This is a huge achievement for the band and
everyone concerned, and we are obviously all very pleased to have
reached the finals.
"The
lads have worked extremely hard over the years and deserve industry
recognition for their outstanding musicianship and live performances."
As
well as winning BBC Wiltshire first Battle of Bands contest in 2002,
they recently won five awards at Trowbridge's Muscit Music Awards
including Best Release for the 'Pure' EP and the award for Best
Band.
The
Pure EP was prouduced by Trowbridge musician Chris Goulstone at
Rockfield Studios.
