Robin
of Sherwood was one of the TV hits of the 1980s and interest
in the show is still going strong.
Even
though it ended in 1986, the series, which offered a modern, mystical
take on the legend of Robin Hood and his band of outlaws still has
an enormous, enthusiastic fanbase.
Many
of those fans will be travelling to Swindon in August, to attend
Legend - The UK Robin of Sherwood Convention.
The
event, which takes place at The Hilton Hotel over the weekend of
27th-29th August will include activities such as location trip,
quiz and a medieval banquet. It will also pay host to several actors
who will be discussing their time on the series.
Nickolas
Grace who played the wicked, bug-eyed Sheriff of Nottingham is confirmed
to appear alongside Friar Tuck actor Phil Rose and Jeremy Bulloch
who played Edward of Wickham. Jeremy was also behind Boba Fett's
mask in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
This
is the fifth Robin of Sherwood Legend convention to be held since
1997. The first four were held in Bristol, but the huge fan following
meant that a larger venue had to be found and the event moved to
Swindon.
This
year a special tribute will be made to actor Robert Addie who played
Guy of Guisburne who died suddenly last November.
The
Robin of Sherwood Legend convention runs at The Hilton Hotel in
Swindon from Friday 27th-Sunday 29th August 2004. Tickets are priced
at £65.00 per person and can be obtained by completing a booking
form via the event website.
