The
news all Doctor Who fans had been waiting for came on September
26th last year when it was announced that the show would finally
be returning to our screens in 2005.
The
cult series ended its mammoth 26-year run with a whimper in 1989.
Since then only a poorly-received US-produced TV movie starring
Paul McGann has updated us on the good Doctor's galactic exploits.
In
the meantime, fans consoled themselves with books, audio dramas
and web animations which continued the Doctor's adventures.
Once
it was confirmed that the show was to receive a 21st century makeover,
fans have been clamouring for any little tidbit about what's in
store.
Who
will play the Doctor? When in 2005 will we be hiding behind the
sofa again? Will the dreaded Daleks return for a rematch?
We
managed to collar new series Executive Producer Mal Young and by
waving a tissue compression eliminator at him, got the low-down
on what to expect.
BBC
Radio Swindon mid-morning presenter Dan Chisholm spoke exclusively
to Mal about the new series on Wednesday 14th January.
