star Lemar Obika may not have won Fame Academy, but he is certainly
the most successful of all the contestants to have taken part in
the BBC1 talent series.
day after leaving the Fame Academy house in 2002 he joined singer
Beverley Knight onstage at the Hammersmith Apollo. She had been
so impressed by Lemar in the show that she personally wrote to the
show's producer's to request he appear at the gig with her.

Later singles '50/50' and 'Another Day' consolidated his success
and his debut album Dedicated went platinum.

achieved his ambition of securing a record deal with a major label,
but before even releasing a record his contract was cancelled -
a victim of internal changes at the label.
