BBC 1Xtra's DJ Diggz is the main attraction at the launch party for 'Sugar' at Swindon's Soda nightclub.

Smooth, sexy r'n'b and soulful house are the order of the night at 'Sugar', a new monthly event at Soda in Swindon.

DJ Diggz from the BBC's flagship urban radio station 1Xtra will be in the Red Room at the event launch party which takes place on Friday 18th June.

Diggz is the man behind 'Soul Power', a collective of club DJs & MCs founded in 1994 following his break on Galaxy Radio where he presented Bristol's first ever R'n'B chart show called 'SoulPower' for five years.

At Galaxy, he was responsible for interviewing top artists including Jodeci, Mary J Blige, Wu Tang Clan and the late Aaliyah & Notorious BIG.

Between 1996-98, Diggz worked as Assistant Head of Music at Galaxy 101 and as a result started promoting major R'n'B gigs in Bristol. Whilst working at Kiss 100 in 1999, he met up with Trevor Nelson , who then became his manager. Diggz went on to support Trevor Nelson on his Radio 1's Rhythm Nation Tour in 1999 around the UK and Ireland.

In January 2000 he supported Trevor Nelson with Radio One live from the Ayia Napa Weekend in 2001. He also regularly supports Trevor Nelson at the MTV Lick Parties.

Between 2000 and 2002, Diggz took 'SoulPower' back to the airwaves on Bristol's Star FM and hosted a dedicated R'n'B show with guests including Usher, Faith Evans and Brandy.

Diggz currently runs his own promotion & marketing company called 'SoulPowered' in Bristol and Cardiff. He has just launched his own label Random Records which aims to push local Bristol talent into the mainstream.

DJ Diggz is special guest at the 'Sugar' launch party at Soda in Swindon Friday 18th July. Also appearing are Cybernetic, C Double E, Nick Smoove, Ferro and Slim. Doors open 7.00pm–2.00am. Admission is free before 9.30pm and £4.00 after.
