A new
exhibition by nationally renowned photographer, Boo Beaumont, goes
on display at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
'Beguiling Beauty' is an extraordinary collection of flowers as
you've never seen them before.
Flowers literally photographed from the inside.
It's an unusual artform, created by Boo Beaumont, which uses
the penetrating power of X-rays.
But the resulting floral radiographs of tulips, roses, anemones
and more exotic blooms from London's Covent Garden are
extraordinary.

Not
only do they reveal the delicate, hidden, architecture within each
bloom but for the viewer they make the everyday familiar seem unfamiliar.
And
with a
back drop of more conventional
floral shots 'Beguiling
Beauty' becomes a sensual exploration of flowers and there surprisingly
strong sculptural presence:
"My
aim in making these images is to convey the beguiling beauty of
each unique flower by exploring the delicate surface texture, rhythmical
shapes of line and form and in some, the intense saturated colours
that occur in their complex sensual structure," says Boo.
The
exhibition comes on the back of Boo's publicly acclaimed and thought
provoking exhibition, 'Remarkable Women', shown in 1999.
'Remarkable Women' featured black and white portraits of Mother
Theresa, Betty Boothroyd and Mary Quant, 12 of which were purchased
by the National Portrait Gallery which also recognized Boo as one
of Britain's outstanding photographers.
Now a portrait photography lecturer, at the University of Bath in
Swindon, Boo has had eight solo exhibitions in the last four years
and has been short listed for the Kobal Portrait Award.
'Beguiling Beauty' runs from 29 November to 30 January and goes
on display at the Ground Floor gallery space of Swindon's Great
Western Hospital.
The gallery space is open to the public from 6pm to 8pm Monday to
Friday and 10am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
