I recently drove past my old school (Pinehurst) while on a visit from my home in Canada and was surprised to see that it is being torn down. I have many memories of the school, some good, some not so good! What will be built in it's place? Where do the local children go to school now?

Nigel Lewis
I went to Pinehurst School between 1954 to 1964 I've lots of lovely memory's of the time I was there love to hear from anybody who knew me Nigel Lewis

Vance Willis
I went to Pinehurst School in 1967. My Mum and Uncle were there in the 1930s to 40s and now my wife works there. Unfortunately, like everything else, it will all be gone when the new Academy Building opens.

Is it possible to have copies of the photos of Upper Stratton to support teaching about Victorian Swindon in a local school? Also looking for maps of the area at the time.

Gary Williams
I watched my late father Frank play table tennis here and also came to shows in the theatre. It is a scandal that in a prosperous town like Swindon the Mechanic's has been allowed to fall into such a sad state.

Gary Williams
Fantastic picture.I was there that day.Mum and dad were married and I was christened in the railway museum ( when it was a church obviously)

Veronica Nichols
Re. Historic photos 3. Number 33 and 34 Kingsdown Road are located in Upper Sratton NOT Lower Stratton! I lived there in the distant past. Love the pics. Thank you for the nostalgia.
