The Kooks to play Swindon
Million-selling Brighton indie-rock act The Kooks are to play Swindon's Oasis in April.
The Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon have started 2008 as they mean to go on by booking the first of many big name musical acts to play at the venue this year.
The last 12 months saw bands and artists such as Pet Shop Boys, McFly, Hard-Fi and Paolo Nutini play there to rapturous crowds.
The next sold-out gig to take place there is Sugababes on Tuesday 22nd April. But the venue have just announced that on the very next day, hugely-popular Brighton indie-rock quartet The Kooks are to appear for a gig.
Road to fame
The Kooks were snapped up by Virgin Records after playing at Brighton Free Butt Festival in 2005, and their road to fame was swift and smooth.

Their debut album Inside In/Inside Out was released less than a year later and went on to spend most of 2006 in the UK Top 20 Album Charts.
To date the album has sold more than 1m copies and attained triple platinum status.
One of the three Top 20 singles taken from it - 'She Moves in Her Own Way' - was one of the defining songs of 2006.
Among the band's honours are a nomination for Best New Act at the 2006 Q Awards and the award for Best UK and Ireland Act at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and had one nomination at The BRIT Awards and a shortlist nomination.
The band's second album is entitled 'Konk' and is due to be released on 14th April 2008. And it is part of their forthcoming tour in support of the album that the band are due to play in Swindon.
The Kooks play The Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon on Wednesday 23rd April 2008. Tickets are priced at £18.50 with £2.50 booking fee and are allotted to four per person.
