Meet Sue Davies

From a Redcoat to singer in a folk band, Sue has had a varied career the high point of course being presenter of The Afternoon Show.

Sue Davies BBC Radio Swindon/ Wiltshire

Sue lost in thought about her show!

Born in Wiltshire's county town of Trowbridge, Sue began tentative steps in the public limelight by winning a local talent contest at seven years of age.

For the next four years she toured many Wiltshire social clubs with her sister in a group called "The Folk Duo" often on the same bill as her parents' ventriloquist and miming act.

She also played clarinet in the Wiltshire Youth Concert Band as well as joining many Wiltshire amateur dramatic groups.

After getting her honours degree in North Yorkshire, Sue returned to Wiltshire where she worked as a radio commercials and jingles producer,  whilst still singing across the West Country in a wide range of bands, from rock and pop to dance bands and big bands.

After working as a volunteer at hospital radio stations in Trowbridge, Chippenham and Devizes, Sue joined BBC Wiltshire Sound in 1990.

Her hobbies include music, films, collecting old radios, supporting Manchester United and eating chocolate but not necessarily in that order!!
