Meet the Sunday guests…… ![]() Paul Rush Paul RushPaul works for the Church of England's Diocese of Bristol as their Adviser in Evangelism, helping Christian people share the good news about Jesus with others. He is married to Sue with two adult sons. Paul plays golf (badly) and various musical instruments (quite well). He is involved with the Street Pastors Swindon and with the Swindon Old Town Gospel Choir. Paul loves spicy food, the Tomb Raider series of games and watching rugby and motor sport (not at the same time). He has also begun training to be a cricket umpire. ![]() Lee Giles Lee GilesHello! My name is Lee Giles and I live in Salisbury. I am 22 years old, and have been married to my wonderful wife Ellen, since May 20th 2006. I have been a Christian for about 5 years, and I attend CityGate Church, Salisbury. I currently work for a Christian Charity called The Bridge Project (www.the-bridge.org.uk). We go into almost all of the local Pre-Schools, Primary and Secondary schools, to share the Good News of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. ![]() Keith Fryer Keith FryerKeith and his wife Jenny have lived in Marlborough for 15 years, with our 2 girls, Alison & Caroline. Jenny's a primary school teacher and Keith is a partner in a London based timber business. We worship at St Mary's and enjoy the fact that Marlborough is an ecumenical town, where all the churches regularly come together. With a large garden, chickens, ducks, doves, guinea fowl, fish and our cat Paws, there's usually plenty to keep us occupied, but when there's time the Savernake forest is our favourite place to be. ![]() Michael Johnson Michael JohnsonMichael was, like many people in our area, born in London, and agrees with his namesake, Samuel Johnson, who said that 'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.' In spite of that he came with his family to Wroughton a good number of years ago and has never looked back. He is vicar of Wroughton, a lively church in a lively village where there is always new and exciting going on. He is willing to turn his hand to anything from taking services, visiting patients at the Prospect Hospice where he is a chaplain, and repairing classic cars, a favourite hobby. And of course he is enthusiastic about radio on Sunday mornings - in spite of the early hour! ![]() Rosemary Power Rosemary PowerRosemary Power is ecumenical minister to Swindon Moravian Church. Until recently she was also responsible for ecumenical development in Swindon and was Faith Representative and Chair of Swindon Strategic Partnership. Formerly an academic, she organises a series of talks on faith, ethics and spirituality at the Univerisity of Bath in Swindon and at the Moravian Church. She is currently writing a book about modern concepts of Celtic Christianity, and also a history of Swindon Moravian Church. Rosemary is a member of the ecumenical Christian Iona Community. She edits the Faith on Friday column in the Swindon Advertiser. ![]() Fidelma Meehan Fidelma MeehanFidelma Meehan is a regular guest on BBC Radio Swindon and Wiltshire, on Morning Thought and with the fabulous Sue Davies on Sunday Breakfast. She also has regular appearances on BBC Radio 2's Pause for Thought. Fidelma is from Northern Ireland and has been a Bahá'í for 14 years. She has been working as Projects Co-ordinator at the Bahá'í Projects Office for the past 9 years in Swindon, where she has helped to develop community service projects such as the Tranquillity Zone and the Swindon Young People's Empowerment Programme (SYEP). ![]() Lee Rayfield Lee RayfieldLee Rayfield became Bishop of Swindon in 2005. He lives in Old Town with his wife, Liz, and has three children. Before ordination, Dr Rayfield was an Immunologist and taught medical and dental students in London. He is also a member of the Society of Ordained Scientists, a group of people who seek to connect the Church with the worlds of science and technology. The Bishop loves sport and considers himself to be a bit of a fitness fanatic! He is a keen runner and member of Swindon Harriers AC. ![]() Phil Baker Phil BakerPhil has lived in the Swindon area for nearly 36 years. He is married with two grown up children and also a grandfather to two girls. He is a leader of Highworth Community Church. Currently he is Chair of the Highworth Inter-Church Committee. In addition he is the Swindon Branch Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. In what little spare time he has,he has been known to drop into the "the theatre of nightmares oops dreams" alias the County Ground although his first love will always be Exeter City who he almost enjoyed see appear in May at Wembley apart from the fact that they lost! ![]() Mike Fisher Mike FisherMike Fisher is a counsellor, supervisor, trainer and a sensorimotor psychotherapist for trauma. He is Executive Director of the Willows Counselling Service and a Fellow of the Association of Christian Counsellors. His background is in the Social Services. Mike works with people who are survivors of sexual and ritual abuse. He is chairman of TAG (the Trauma and Abuse Group) and is a member of the Archbishops Council Consultative Group on the churches response to survivors of childhood sexual abuse. He has a particular interest in culture and spirituality, and enjoys bird watching. He is a member of Christ Church Swindon. ![]() Mary Douglas Mary DouglasMary is a member of City Gate Church, Salisbury, having become a Christian at university, some 28 years ago. She worked for IBM for several years, before leaving paid employment to raise twins, a boy and a girl, who are now aged 17. Her husband has recently executed a 180 degree career change, from I.T. professional to nurse, and now works in the local hospital. In May 2005, she became a County Councillor for Salisbury East, and a member of the Cabinet at Wiltshire County Council. Since then, she has held several cabinet posts she is currently Cabinet Member for Culture, including libraries and heritage, the arts, and sport. Mary is also a qualified piano teacher, although at the moment she only has time for one pupil! She would also like you to know that she is particularly fond of warm chocolate brownies. ![]() Barbara Afterlak Barbara AfterlakSecretary of Swindon Churches Together Ecumenical Council, Chair of
