UNDERGROUND - Show 1 - 27/05/07

BBC Radio Swindon and BBC Radio Wiltshire's show dedicated to local musical talent returned for a brand new series on Sunday 27th May. Listen back to the show online.

UNDERGROUND - BBC Radio Swindon and BBC Radio Wiltshire's weekly radio show dedicated to local bands and musicians returned for a brand new series on Sunday 27th May. Once again, the show is presented by local live music aficionado Daniel Garrett. Listen to this week's show online by clicking the link down the page.

This is the fourth series of UNDERGROUND and as always, every show in the six-week run features the latest band demos, a guide to the best gigs taking place around the area, band interviews, exclusive live sessions, gig reports, and interviews with Wiltshire music scene movers and shakers.

The Sturgis Armory

For this first show in the new series, Daniel invited Ben and Gibbo from swaggering Swindon Boogie-Rock madmen, The Sturgis Armory into the studio for a chat. The band also exclusively recorded two songs live which were played on the show.

Daniel has also been out and about, and earlier this month followed two top Wiltshire heavy metal bands - Swindon's Iron Hearse and Battlewitch from the Trowbridge area on a three-date mini tour of Ireland. You can hear his report from the tour on this week's show.

Also, the local music scene Mover and Shaker this week was Rob Morgan from Swindon promoters No More Heroes, who was on to talk about the sterling work they are doing in bringing NME-circuit bands to the town at their regular gigs at The Brunel Rooms nightclub.

And Shaun Buswell returned for 'The Buzz with Buswell' - his weekly round-up of all the best gigs taking place in and around the county over the next seven days.

On the UNDERGROUND playlist this week were:

The Citizens - 'Drinking Games'
3rd Storey Chemist - 'OffOnOff'
The Amstellos - 'The Phone Song'
The Sturgis Armory - 'Shake' (Live)
The Sturgis Armory - 'Airtight' (Live)
Battlewitch - 'Merlin's Ryffe'
The Blackjacks - 'Realise That'
Forward is the Farewell - 'Be Careful What You Wish For'
