Howell joint second

Wiltshire's David Howell is off to a great start to the World Golf Championship event in San Francisco.

The Ryder Cup star is three under par after his first round overnight, that's three shots behind Colin Montgomerie and enough to be in joint second with ten others including Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia.

With more than £3 million of prize money on offer, in California, a good performance would give him a chance of finishing the season at the top of the European Order of Merit.
