One of Britain's favourite actors Tom Conti is to appear at Bath's Theatre Royal in the Tom Stoppard comedy 'The Real Thing' from Tuesday 6th September. The play, directed by actor Tim Pigott-Smith tells the story of successful playwright Henry who leaves his first wife, Charlotte and believes his relationship with lover, Annie is the real thing. But living in a world in which life imitates art, and art replicates reality means it isn’t always easy to tell what the real thing is Recently Tom spoke to BBC Radio Wiltshire's Afternoon Show presenter Mark Seaman about the play. Mark also asked him about his long and successful career which included the much loved film Shirley Valentine that he appeared in alongside Pauline Collins where he played Greek lothario Costas.
Tom has appeared at the Theatre Royal a number of times in the past as both an actor and director and he told Mark that it is one of his favourite venues when he is touring. Mark also got some useful hints on how to keep a full head of hair as one gets older, something that Tom has been able to do over the years, much to the chagrin of many men of a similar age!! 'The Real Thing' runs at Bath Theatre Royal from Tuesday 6th-Saturday 10th September. Tickets can be obtained via the theatre box office on 01225 448844. |
