Happy Nude Year!

A round up of all the cheeky calendars of Wiltshire folk who are daring to bare this year for a good cause…

Forget jumble sales, sponsored walks and charity cards.  For serious fund-raisers there’s only one way to raise cash and that’s to raise a few eyebrows and drop the togs.

It’s a craze that kicked off a few years ago when a group of frisky, middle-aged WI ladies, turned the traditional notion of the WI on its head by posing in the buff for a 1999 calendar.  Since than nude calendars have literally well… taken off.

In fact an extraordinary number of ordinary people are doing it, shedding their clothes that is, and going bare (well almost) for charity.

And Wiltshire is as keen as anywhere to kick off their kecks…

So we decided to round up all the cheeky calendars of Wiltshire folk who are daring to bare this year for a good cause…

Check out the gallery in the right hand column for a sneaky peak...

1. Nationwide PAs Calendar

The Nationwide charity calendar 2005 features eight of the directors' personal assistants who are baring (nearly) all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.  Scenes include taking the minutes, filing, serving tea and coffee, football sponsorship and organising the Christmas party.

According to one of the PAs, Katja Rogers, daring to bare was worth it:

“We are a diverse group, spanning an age range of three decades and several dress sizes, but what we have in common is the desire to raise money for Macmillan.  It was very nerve racking having the photographs taken but we are all extremely pleased with the final results and with the fact that, in doing something a little out of the ordinary, we are able to help such a worthwhile cause.”

The calendars are available from the building society’s Regent Street branch for a minimum donation of £5.

2. Swindon Town Calendar Mums

Meanwhile 40 mums, of young rising stars at Swindon Town Football Club, gave a new meaning to ‘football strip’ by putting football kits on and then taking them off again for the camera all to raise funds for the club’s Centre of Excellence!

The photo shoot, at Swindon Town’s training ground, had the mums snapped in suggestive, tongue-in-cheek football poses.  Some of the more cheeky shots include scenes from the showers, in the changing room and jumping topless in a defensive wall on the pitch.  Swindon Town’s very own star striker Super Sam Parkin also makes an appearance.

The calendars cost £5.00 and are available from the Supporters Shop at the stadium or via mail order.  Call the Youth Development Administrator on 01793 333706 or send a cheque for £5.75 (includes p&p) to The Youth Development Administrator, STFC, The County Ground, County Road, Swindon SN1 2ED.

3. Army Wives Calendar

The Army Wives 2005 Calendar, in aid of the Lydia Cross Appeal, features Lydia’s Mum Jodie and five of her friends who are all wives of servicemen based at Hullavington.  They stripped off at Kemble airfield for the calendar shoot back in August.

But facing the camera, according to Mrs. Cross, needed a double of Dutch courage:

“We all had an absolute scream on the day.  We got drunker and drunker as the day went on.  It’s wonderful the girls were prepared to do that for Lydia.  Really touching.”

The calendars are on sale for £5.00 in Chippenham at:

Fosseway News, Bumpers Farm; Woolworth's, High Street; Co-Op, Greenway Lane; WH Smith, High Street; Superdrug, High Street; McColls, Redlands; Costcutters, Conway Road; MS-2 Stores, Eastern Avenue; Esso Garage, Malmesbury Road; Tesco Express, Lodge Road, Pewsham; Tesco Express, Foundry Lane; The Mill House, Bath Road; BP, Bath Road; Morrisons, Cepen Park; Morrisons Petrol, Cepen Park; One Stop, Market Place; Total Garage, Bath Road; Olympiad Leisure Centre, Monkton Park; Lyndon News, New Road; MS-2 Stores, Greenway Lane; Sainsbury, Cepen Park; Sainsbury Petrol, Cepen Park; Steamers Caf, Rail Station; Hollands New Shop, Market Place; Hawthorn News, Emery Gate; BP, Hungerdown Road; Sovereign Petrol Station, London Road; Hawthorn Stores, Hawthorn; Somerfield, Emery Gate; One Stop, Sheldon Road; Woodland Stores, Woodland Road.

4. Chippenham Town Football Club Calendar

And one for the ladies… The Bluebirds Calendar features the Chippenham Town squad dropping their jocks, in and around the football ground, to raise money for the club.

But according to Lauren McKell who came up with the idea (who can blame her) it’s more about mood than rude:

"This is a calendar done for women and from a woman's viewpoint.  I don't think men always have the right idea about what makes a sexy picture and it's not about wearing dickie bows.
"This calendar has very sexy and classy pictures, done in black and white."

The sexy calendar is up for grabs for just £7.00 at the football club and from shops around Chippenham, including Shoestrings, ExSports, Hollands and the Giant Party Shop.
