How do I get Flash?

The course is made up of 27 interactive guides. To play them you need the Flash plug-in. The Flash plug-in is free.

Download Flash Player

What sort of browser do I need?

The website is designed to be used in a wide variety of different browsers but to get the best from the site use a browser version 4.0 or above.

Can I install the flash guides on my computer or network?

No, the course content is only designed to be used online.

We are developing plans for prisons and community centres without internet access to be able to download the movies onto local computers. Sign-up to the WebWise tutor newsletter to keep informed.

I have found a bug. What do I do?

Let us know!

We work really hard to make sure there are no errors on our website. Sometimes, though, they do slip through. Please do let us know of any errors or bugs you find, if possible including the URL.

Any errors will be put right as soon as possible.

Contact WebWise here.

Is there a text only version of the course?

Yes. In the top left of this page you will see a text only link under the BBC logo. This creates a version with large text but no graphics.

The content covered by the flash movies is also available by clicking the 'text only' button in the top right corner of every guide window.

I am still stuck. What do I do?

Telephone The WebWise technical national helpline
on 08700 100 333 or e-mail us at webwisehelp@bbc.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.

Please call 08000 150 950 for course information.

Is the original Absolute Beginners Course still available?

Yes. The original Absolute Beginners is available here (500k). The version with an audio voice over is available here (2MB). Please note the audio version may take a little while to download.
