When and how did you learn to use the internet?
Thinking back I would say that it was around 1999 when I left drama school. The real world had arrived at my doorstep and I was looking for work.
Luckily I had some great mates who took the time out to show me the basics; then I started to work things out for myself.
I found the whole thing a bit weird to begin with. Cyberspace was a bit mysterious; it was like the Matrix or something. The whole thing was a bit of trial and error.
What would you say your main activities are online - reading the news? Picking up e-mail?
I would definitely say buying DVD's. I'm building up my film and retro TV collection so I'm always on the look out for DVD bargains.
The best site for this is Kelkoo.com. It's great because it compares prices across a number of sites to give you the best price.
Saying that, I still end up buying the majority of my stuff from Play.com.
Do you use the internet for any other kinds of shopping?
Yeah, do like having a look around. I've found some amazing finds, such as Maryln Water. They sell this amazing spa water and it comes in ceramic water dispensers.
The water is unbelievable, I know that sounds weird, but try it and you'll see what I mean.
I buy 20 litres which works out about £7 which is great. I love my coffee, and I found this site called Nespresso, which does these tiny little capsules of coffee for my machine at home.
The only problem now is that no other coffee comes close!
When I'm short of time, I will buy presents online, mainly at the gadget shop, because you can get a real range of stuff from cool, to silly and everything in between.
And of course when I'm booking my holidays I always have a little look online.
Ryanair and Easyjet are always a good start, because they do have some great deals, especially if you're organised and book early.
Which sites would you say you use regularly and why?
I would have to say Google, as I really do use it a lot as a starting point - it's just a really great search engine.
At the moment I've got a real thing about quad bikes so I'm spending a lot of time looking at the Auto Trader, Triumph and GasGas sites - a bit boy racer I know.
When I started using the internet, I joined up with Freeserve and I've stuck with them for my e-mail, so I visit their site regularly.
My new thing is kite surfing, so I've spent a lot of time recently researching the sport and looking for courses etc.
So I've been looking at the British Kite surfing organisation and Kite surfing school sites quite a bit.
If you had a friend logging on for the first time, which site you recommend they visit and why?
For me it would have to be Kelkoo – you can use it to compare prices on everything, from hats to beds to holidays.
It's just great for bargain hunting, and who doesn't like a bargain? Its amazing it gives you the best price out there.
If the opportunity came up what you like to do next, a film or more television work?
I'd love to do a British film, a combination of romantic comedy and action. My long term goal is to do a Gene Kelly/Fred Astaire remake.
The ultimate for me would be a tap-dancing film with a modern twist without the cheese - like a tap-dancing Moulin Rouge.
Equally, I'd love to do an Indiana Jones type action film. Failing that when I'm old enough perhaps a Bond film.
Would you ever be tempted to pursue a singing career?
No, I would do singing for a film or a musical, but I don't think a move into a music career would be for me.
I love Frank Sinatra so a chance to do a film about him and his music would be great but I don't want a singing career as such.
