When and how did you learn to use the internet?

I went to a university that was a seed school for Macintosh. Back in the late 80s, early 90s before everybody had the internet.

Our campus was totally hooked up with Mac computers, so we had a version of what I suppose they would now call an intranet.

I suppose that's how I first got into using computers to communicate with other people and using it as a research tool.

Did you find it easy?

I absolutely love computers, but I'm not like a geek – you know one of those people who know everything.

I'm definitely a Mac girl, through and through. They're quite user friendly anyway, which is great.

So, yes, I did find it easy.

What would you say your main activities are online - reading the news? Picking up e-mail?

I'm really into my nature stuff. I really love bears.

I own a house in the Pyrenees and there's a great site that's about nature in the Pyrenees, called Ariege Pyrenees Wildlife Report.

It gives you a month by month report on wildlife you can see in the Pyrenees.

It's a bit 'trainspotter' I confess, but I'm quite into my butterfly observations as well.

I'm also a member of the National Trust, so I visit their website quite a bit as well, to see what is happening seasonally.

Oh and I like to go to the RSPB website to look at pictures of birds. I'm still looking for a great bear website, that's really sad isn't it?

When I'm online I also love to look up really tacky American things, that I'm afraid to admit to my girlfriend I that look at.

I confess I love marthastewart.com. I love the magazine as well.

Do you use the internet for any other kinds of shopping?

I use it to book holidays, that's the one thing that has totally transformed my life, travel and the internet, because I am addicted to travel websites.

I would definitely say I use Ryanair the most, trying to find cheap flights to various places.

Things like Lastminute, Expedia, Opodo. I also like looking up the local tourist board of wherever I'm visiting.

If I'm travelling to a city Time Out does great city guides and you can always log on and see what's happening that weekend.

Do you ever use the internet to keep up with the news?

I get three e-mails every day – I get the New York Times which gives me a run down of what's in the paper everyday; the Media Guardian and I get the regular Guardian things sent to me every morning.

I also check the local paper from my home county in New Jersey, Asbury Park Press. I just look it up to see what they consider to be important.

Do you ever use the internet for work?

Well I used to use it all the time when I did the breakfast show with Danny. I would look up entertainment news and gossip, sites like Entertainment News.

But the site I've been using mainly for work recently is the Cass Elliot Website.

It's the official site run by her daughter. I've been using the site to do research for my show Amy Lame's Mama Cass Family.

It has a messageboard, but I'm not registered I just like to eavesdrop.

What do you think about looking for love online?

It's funny I was talking to a friend about this just the other day.

I think the internet has its nasty side, but I know so many people now who have met their partners online.

I think at the beginning people were embarrassed, but now, it's the norm and there's no stigma attached.

Saying that if, I was single, it's not something I would actually do, I get quite shy really, I can't even put my profile on Friendster.

So tell us about your show you're taking to the Edinburgh Festival?

It's a story about Mama Cass, no it's not, it's loosely based around Mama Cass and really about how I used to be a child star in America.

It's the story of me, my sister's and my brother's rise to fame and then our demise.

The name comes from the fact that we were so fat, we were named after Mama Cass.

The show is a mixed story and my family are involved as well, but they only take part on film.

I couldn't have them on stage with me they're too crazy. It has a lot of documentary stuff in it.

I would say that it's not officially stand up.

It's the story of a really dysfunctional family and how being a child star affects you and can ruin you for life.

But don't worry its not serious it's hilarious, my family are hilarious.

You took part in Celebrity Fit Club, would you ever take part in any other reality TV?

I'd love to. I'd even love to go back on Celebrity Fit Club.

When I was on the show I lost four stone, but I'm still fat, I'm just less fat than I was before.

I'd like to lose a bit more, but the only thing that is ever going to kick me into shape is Harvey Walden.

Now that I know him from being on the panel he's a pussycat. He's really nice but he doesn't want anyone to know that.

I'd even consider something like Celebrity Big Brother, I think considering the housemates they've had in the past, as long as you have a sense of mental fortitude you'll be fine.

That is as long as I don't have to wear a leotard and be a cat!!
