More storms batter the U.S. by Sean Batty
Just days after dozens of tornadoes and thunderstorms swept from the Rockies to the Plains, killing at least four people in 3 states, another spate of storms have hit Oklahoma and Texas.
The latest storms swept through the two states on Friday, spawning at least three tornadoes and dumping rain into already swollen creeks and rivers, forcing evacuations of houses in some areas.
The slow moving thunderstorms dumped more then 80mm (3 inches) of rain in some parts of Oklahoma. The National Weather Service was forced to issue flash flood warnings in 10 counties in southern and central parts of the state. Cars became stranded on roads as flood waters rose and rivers breached their banks.
In central Texas tornadoes damaged an indoor rodeo arena and brought down power lines, cutting power to thousands of people.
The storms continued to move northwestwards dumping copious amounts of snow across Wyoming, causing pileups and leaving some roads inaccessible.
Since Wednesday a massive 70 inches of snow has fallen in the Wind River Mountain area of Wyoming.
