A mixed bag by Jay Wynne

Low pressure centred over the North sea this morning moved slowly
southeast, causing an associated occluded front to move south across
eastern parts of Scotland and England today. This occluded front
produced a band of persistent rain over parts of eastern Scotland and
northeast England during the morning, which moved south to affect
Lincolnshire and East Anglia, and reached the far southeast during
the evening.

Elsewhere, there were plenty of showers, but also some drier, sunny intervals. A band of showers over southeast England cleared the south coast by mid morning. Other areas that have seen frequent showers today include much of Northern Ireland, western Wales, northern Scotland, and southwest England. Some of these showers turned into snow during the afternoon and evening, particuluarly over higher ground in Scotland and Northern England.

The best of the sunshine today was in central and southeastern
parts of England and the Channel Isles. Daytime temperatures were around normal for the time of year, with a rather chilly night to follow. A gentle to moderate breeze affected most parts of the UK with some strong and gusty winds over parts of Scotland and northeast England.

Lowest Night Min : PRESTON WYNNE (Herefordshire) : -1.5C

Highest Rainfall : FYVIE CASTLE (Aberdeenshire) : 20.4mm
