Cloudy, mild and windy by Alex Deakin
Overnight it was windy across Scotland and Northern Ireland with dry conditions in the east but outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west. Across England and Wales there were some drizzly patches, mainly in western areas, but most places were dry. It was mild. During the day outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland (except in the northeast where it remained dry) cleared away southeastwards into northwestern England leaving scattered blustery showers in its wake across northwestern Scotland. There were some sunny intervals around, the best of which developed in eastern areas. In England and Wales northern and western areas were cloudy and there were some outbreaks of light rain and drizzle around in places, especially over the hills of northwestern England. In the south and east it was mainly dry. There was generally a lot of cloud in these areas too, although some sunny intervals did break through locally. It was a breezy day in the south but windy in the north. Shetland became stormy later in the day. Temperatures were above average, especially across northeastern Scotland.
