The western Pacific has a newly formed tropical depression ‘29W’. This is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm by mid week and is moving towards the Philippines. Eastern areas, including the east coast of Luzon should be feeling the effects of this system by the end of the week.

New England and Rhode Island had some wintry weather to start the weekend; 8 inches of snow fell on Saturday in Rhode Island and near Boston, 6 inches was recorded. Warnings are now in place for eastern Canada, particularly for New Brunswick.

The southern Rockies have also seen significant snowfall. New Mexico is still expecting more snow during Sunday. For Texas and Oklahoma, the cold air is just losing its bite, so for the end of the weekend, it is heavy rain that could cause some problems.

The Mediterranean has turned very unsettled during November. There have been numerous thundery low pressure systems. During Saturday, northern Algeria, southern Italy and Sicily were subjected heavy rain and violent thunderstorms. These storms are now moving east over Greece for Sunday afternoon.

Thunderstorms have been affecting central eastern parts of Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Storm clouds were seen though the Gulf, over Bahrain, Qatar and in Saudi. As winds blew at over 30 mph there were widespread sandstorms. Due to the blowing sand, visibility was down to 400 metres in places.
