Florida feels a chill too by Jo Farrow
Normality is now starting to return to northeastern parts of the USA, after the winter storm which brought record-breaking snowfall during the weekend.
Around 27 inches fell in New York City’s Central Park on Sunday. This is the most amount of snow ever to have fallen in a single winter storm event.
Despite such a large amount of snow falling, efforts by the authorities to clear roads and pavements of snow has allowed daily life to continue more or less as normal.
The main focus now is to clear the piled up snow quickly, as a rapid rise in temperature from midweek would cause slush and flooding problems as the snow melts.
The effects of the winter storm have been felt as far south as Florida, with cold air being dragged southwards as the winter storm cleared through.
Forecasters were expecting temperatures to fall as low as 0°C (32°F) in some parts of the sunshine state during the early hours of Tuesday, before it warms up from midweek onwards.
