Summary of UK Weather for Sunday 10 February 2008.
High pressure has continued to dominate the UK today, bringing
settled and dry conditions. It was a rather misty and foggy start to
the morning, particularly in parts of southwest England, northwest
England and the Vale of York. Patchy frost was also fairly
widespread over England and Wales this morning. This frost and fog
cleared by late morning, leaving a pleasant day for most, with a good
deal of sunshine. The best of this sunshine was seen over England,
Wales and southern Scotland, where cloud amounts have been generally
small. Over central and northern Scotland and Northern Ireland,
there has been rather more in the way of cloud, with just a few
brighter spells. Winds have been light or gentle, from an easterly
or southeasterly direction. After a chilly start to the day,
temperatures recovered quickly, with maximum temperatures well above
normal for the time of year, particularly in England and Wales.
However, where skies are relatively clear this evening, temperatures
are falling rapidly, and frost and fog is reforming again.
