Tammy gets her final warning by Nina Ridge

Tropical depression Tammy is now reaching the end of her fairly short life. In comparison to the other Atlantic storms that have formed this year, she has been relatively tame, never reaching hurricane status.

Tammy drifted on to the south eastern coast of the USA, bringing heavy and persistent rain as she steadily moved across Georgia, towards Alabama. The strength of winds brought with Tammy mirrored nothing more than what we would get in an autumn depression here in the United Kingdom. The amount of rain that has fallen, however, is somewhat more significant.

The tropical air tied in with Tammy has the ability to hold a lot of moisture, thus producing plenty of rain. This has certainly been the case, with parts of Georgia seeing in excess of 7 inches (17cm) in the past few days.

Tammy is now fading away as she wanders towards the Gulf of Mexico, and final warnings of her presence have been issued.
