Summary of UK Weather for Thursday 06 March 2008.
A slow moving warm front cleared the far northeast of Scotland during the early hours of this morning. Otherwise, the UK has been under the influence of a stable warm sector airflow. A cold front approaching from the west reached Northern Ireland this evening, and is continuing to progress eastwards. Outbreaks of rain over Scotland at first cleared the northeast coast by mid morning. Otherwise, it has been a generally dry day, except for a few spots of light, drizzly rain at times, mainly over high ground in the north and west. A band of rather persistent rain has spread into Northern Ireland and northwest Scotland this evening, and is moving east. It has been a generally cloudy day for most today, with some bright or sunny spells at times, the best of these in central and southeastern parts of England. Moderate to fresh westerly winds for much of the day veered to southwesterly during the late afternoon and evening, and have been strengthening steadily from the west. Daytime temperatures have been near or a little above normal for the time of year, and are remaining mild overnight.
