Most of this central Asian republic is steppe and desert. The summers are warm to hot but the heat is made more bearable by the low humidity. The winters are cold but generally dry and sunny over most of the region. The table for Ashkhabad in Turkmenistan indicates the weather conditions inland. The table for Krasnovodsk on the Caspian shores shows an unusually mild winter compared with the rest of the country. This is a result of the moderating influence of the Caspian Sea. | |||||
