WeatherWise - Weather Station - Sun

What do we Know?
Since the earliest humans, the Sun has been a source of wonder and awe.

Many religions used it as their focal point and there are gods and goddesses who have the Sun as their symbol, representing power, new life, fertility and youth.

How Hot is the Sun?
Now we know that the Sun is our nearest star and is, on average, 93 million miles from the Earth. Its average surface temperature has been estimated at 10,000 degrees F and scientists think it must be about 40 million degrees F in its centre.
