A very unsettled month with frequent outbreaks of rain, heavy and thundery at times. There was a short hot and sunny spell in the second week. Local flooding in places.

Temperature 14.9C 1.3C above normal of 13.6C
Sunshine 115 hrs (4.11 hrs per day) 90% of 1961-90 average

September 2000 was the dullest September since 1994 and the wettest since 1995

(please note, the average figures are taken from the period 1961-1990)
